Just received this cold email:
TITLE: TCPA Lawsuits Surge by 26% — Expert Insights to Mitigate Litigation
Hi Eric,
According to recent data, lawsuits filed against businesses for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) were up 26.2% through April 2024 in comparison to last year. According to attorney [Name] of [Firm], businesses need to be aware of this trend and need to take proactive steps to mitigate the risk of litigation.
Please consider speaking to [Name] about the risk businesses face from potential TCPA lawsuits. He defends corporations against class claims brought under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Earlier this year he co-authored a briefing on the new FCC rules for revocation of consent under the TCPA. He can discuss what businesses can do to protect themselves from these types of class actions.
Please let us know if you are interested in speaking with [name] on this topic. We are happy to line up an interview.

hahahahahahaha
First of all, they got the headline stat from me and didn’t attribute to TCPAWorld. Bad.
Second, so some lawyer who has handled a fraction of the TCPA cases I have CO-wrote ONE ARTICLE on ONE FCC opinion a few months back and you want me to interview him on TCPAWorld?
What. A. Joke.
Told you this was funny.
But it really does just go to show the way big firms try to position themselves as knowledgeable on TCPA topics. They sell falsely AND UNETHICALLY– you’re not even allowed to call yourself an “expert” as an attorney–and dupe folks into hiring them.
Then hundreds of thousands of dollars later they end up getting fired and we have to take over and clean up their mess.
Do your research folks.
Never fall for the pitch of an “Expert” TCPA lawyer unless they have HUNDREDS of successful class defenses to back up their claims. And, you know, a trade organization dedicated to spreading awareness, thousands of articles, a firm built out for TCPA defense, their own conference and…stuff like that.
Peace.
