Folks have been saying since the 90s, the 80s, and even–bizarrely–the 70s that rock and roll is dead. And it wasn’t.
No one says it anymore.
That’s because rock is so dead that no one eve thinks about it as being alive.
At Law Conference of Champions we had a pretty good soundtrack of great rock tunes and a smidge of motown.
I said from the stage following our last break that the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s 2003 song Maps was the last great rock song the world would ever know.
I talked to a few folks afterward and although people viscerally wanted to disagree, no one could name a single great rock song since 2003.
Not one.
That means it has been 21 years since the last time a great rock song was written.
And the worst part is that no one seems to have noticed until I said something.
So there you go. Rock is dead. And its horrifying.
Also i thought this was nice praise from a client about LCOC:
“You really blew it out of the water this year, man. That’s what I like about you. You say you’ll do something, and then you not only make it happen, but you and the team knock it out of the park. I’m already looking forward to next year.”
Good night TCPAWorld.
