FCC MASSACRE: Commission Just Crushes 185 Telecom Providers– Requires Carriers to Immediately Cease Accepting their Traffic in Biggest Sweep EVER (I name them all!))

So I was out of the office for a little while taking my kids on a tour of MLB ballparks (We are up to 25 our of 30!)

I return to the news of two massive FTC settlements crushing insurance lead generators and… this.

Last week the FCC issued an order removing 185 providers from the Robocall Mitigation Database and ordering all voice service providers and intermediate providers to cease accepting traffic from these guys.

Insane.

This means the FCC literally just shut down 185 telecom companies with a flick of the wrist.

Here is the key language:

We remove the certifications of the Companies identified in Appendix A from the RMD as of the release date of this Order. All intermediate providers and voice service providers must cease accepting traffic from the Companies within two business days of the release date of this Order. The Companies shall not refile in the RMD unless and until both WCB and the Bureau consent.

Short and sweet and fatal.

We have covered other examples of the FCC directing carriers to shut down traffic companies– but never 185 at once.

Now allegedly all of these companies were doing something wrong– but crazy a government agency can just END a company without any due process. Absolutely nuts.

If this order impacts you in any way reach out to Troutman Amin, LLP we can help you to navigate this and maybe even get back in good standing.

Here are the names of the alleged bad guys:

Rest in peace fellas.
