TCPAWORLD AFTERDARK: good hands

It continues to boggle my mind that the AFTERDARK articles get so many more reads than my standard articles.

Not sure why you late nighters are so attracted to my often disjointed prose at the conclusion of a long work day. Must bring comfort of some kind. And the Czar is always eager to comfort people.

Its true you know.

So I came to a fascinating conclusion this last week at lead generation world. I finally figured out why I care so much about this dingy misshapen little industry I have come to adopt and fight for…

In the room at LGW, and on the board of R.E.A.C.H. and in all the narrow and hard to find places in Vegas next week, wander some of the most innovative and captivatingly brilliant minds on earth.

truly gifted these folks are.

with brain pans and credentials that would make every large corporation in this country salivate.

and yet these folks do not work in corporate America. They reject it entirely. Shirk it off. Prefer to innovate and build. Create and scale. All for themselves.

They’re a bunch of brilliant cyber pirates sailing the high seas in search of treasure…

And every once in a while they come to port, raise a glass of rum and trade secrets.

Little wonder I love preaching to these people. A bunch of searingly brilliant minds that refuse to yield to the establishment and want to make it their own way, in their own way.

I can’t help enjoying walking amongst them. A stranger from some dignified land trying to fit in and learn local custom.

Like some missionary of a bygone era. I have found my lost flock of ruffians and cutthroats and I want to bring them the good word.

So I dress in garb and come with trinkets and ornaments aplenty. Catch their attention with some gleaming insight while it all holds up.

But they return to their various seas soon enough and for some the words of the Czar do fade as soon as the sails are cast. Others heed the word, of course, but I always look forward to the next opportunity regardless.

I’m their legal-word reflection. I can’t help but want to help them succeed.

But they have me outdone–so anti-authoritarian, contrarian, anti-establishment are these folks that they still consider ME to be too buttoned up for them.

“You should let down your guard more” I was advised by a trusted voice this weekend. “People are afraid to approach you…”

Afraid to approach me?

The mystique of the Czar is profound, sure, and the talent staggering and intimidating, yes, but within my chest beats the purest and simplest of hearts.

An 8 year old boy, as Queenie is fond of remarking.

Anyway, I hope everyone is home safe.

BTW–my words last night found their mark. I have a meeting with the IMC board set for tomorrow morning. REACH meeting to follow an hour later.

1/12/24 will be an interesting day for industry. But it is all in good hands.
