Netflix today announced a further foray into reality television with a focus on the legal industry as it launches its new series “O.C. Law.”
“Following the success of Selling Sunset we knew we wanted to take the concept to the next level.” Netflix Production Manager Stelthy Sabatical said. “People have been obsessed with legal dramas for years– we just needed a law firm culture that was both captivating and incredibly powerful to build the project around; In Troutman Amin, LLP we found it!”
The new conceptual program will follow the trials (literally) and triumphs of one of Orange County’s most exceptional (and stylish) law firms.
“Troutman Amin, LLP was built to be unique.” firm founder Puja Amin said when word of the new program linked. “We have completely broken the law firm mold–we handle multi-billion dollar litigation and provide critical compliance advice to media and advertising companies, but we do it with a smile on our faces and with an approachable attitude.”
Puja–who Deserve to Win magazine recently christened the “Hottest Attorney in America”–has a following of fans across the nation drawn to her unique style; in addition to hundreds of clients.
“Its hard not to have fans when all you do is win–and do it your way.” Puja continued. “People love to be part of a winning team. They crave it.”
Sabatical said Netflix was drawn both to the firm’s near-mythical reputation as a hard-hitting litigation shop, and its playful attitude “Look its no secret people want to see winners, but they also want to get a sense of who lawyers really are behind the scenes and Troutman Amin, LLP lawyers are FUN in addition to being incredibly powerful– you just don’t see that very often.”
Puja is partnered with lawyer-extraordinaire Eric J. Troutman, one of the most experienced class action defense attorneys on the planet is known as the “Czar” in legal circles. A veteran of “big law” where he held the highest available title of “equity partner” for many years, Troutman started his own firm in 2022 and quickly took Puja on a as partner.
“This guy the Czar–what can I say? He’s the classic old school litigator. He’s the veteran. The gray hair. The one all the other attorneys want to be.” Sabatical explains. “He’s Harvey Specter and Clarence Darrow and Perry Mason all combined–plus he has this incredible nickname “Czar” and runs around dressed like David Blaine. He’s amazing– truly a gift to reality television.”
For his part Troutman pointed to Puja as the reason the firm was selected for the show.
“Nobody wants to watch a television show about some brilliant old lawyer who just happens to be great at his job. That’s dull. Puja is the attractor.” Troutman explains. “There is just no one like her. Clients love her. Amazing is an understatement. But then again, that’s true of all of our lawyers.”
The firm is rounded out by three female litigators– Sabatical says O.C. Law is testing calling them the “Czar’s Angels” although Troutman disapproves–Britany Andres, Jenniffer Cabrera, and Tori Guidry.
“These women are beautiful, smart, aggressive–they’re the modern day equivalent of Charlie’s assassins of old.” Sabatical says. “Never seen a more impressive bunch of lawyers. None has. Once I had a sense of these folks I knew the series was going to work.”
But despite all of the talent and personality on display, the show would still have been missing one last critical element.
“We still needed a straight man. Someone who serves to reign in the high-flying antics of the firm’s big personalities and brings the whole thing down to Earth” Sabatical explains. “And with the firm’s recent addition of Big Bad John Henson, we got just what we needed.
Henson, who recently joined the firm after high-profile roles with Consumer Affairs and Lending Tree–will play the role of the straight-laced do gooder who often tries to reign in the rest of the case.
“I’m not sure I’ve really earned the role since I’ve only been at the firm for a couple of months” Henson admits. “But if anyone needs to play the part of T.V. Dad to this bunch, I guess it has to be me.”
When asked about whether the Troutman Amin, LLP lawyers would be camera ready he had aa swift response: “Just look at the firm’s YouTube channel (@deservetowin), its incredibly vibrant and fun. So much personality. These people get it.”
Netflix states it plans to test a pilot for O.C. Law in early summer with a full release in September.
Also, this is just an April Fool’s Day joke.
Fortunately. 🙂
