ROBODUD: Dude with Four Cell Phone Numbers Sues Allstate for TCPA Violations and I Don’t Know Who to Root For

You ever watch a sporting event where you hate both teams and you’re kind of just rooting for the stadium to collapse?

Yeah, this is sort of like that.

Some guy name Thomas E. Doughty just sued Allstate in a TCPA case claiming calls were made to his four cell phone numbers without consent.

So Allstate has been getting sued a bunch under the TCPA and although they seem like a good enough bunch the fact that they just keep getting sued tells me they’re probably not the best when it comes to TCPA stuff (reminds me of Rocket.)

On the other hand you have this guy Thomas E. Doughty who is bringing suit claiming that an Allstate lead generator called him on four different cell phone numbers.

Now look, common sense says one company isn’t going to be able to find you on FOUR different numbers unless you have done something to invite the calls. Let’s be real.

And why do you have four cell numbers anyway Mr. Doughty unless its to set up TCPA lawsuits?

Yep, a pox on both your houses.

    Curiously it seems that of the 4 numbers he has, 3 are PA area codes and 1 is in TX (he lives in TX). Hmmm…

    Even better are the details and reasons his atty claims he has 4 phones:

    9.3. Each of the Telephone Number is a cellular number and is a residential number that is used for residential purposes. None of the Telephone Numbers are business numbers. Doughty is retired and conducts no business on the Telephone Numbers.

    9.4. The Telephone Numbers are used for personal purposes, such as contacting friends and relatives, listening to music while exercising at home, enjoying weather apps, and to assist with cooking home meals.

    I know once I retire, I’ll maintain 4 phones, to “listening to music while exercising at home, enjoying weather apps, and to assist with cooking home meals.enjoy weather apps” !?!?!?
