Through the work of Responsible Enterprises Against Consumer Harassment (R.E.A.C.H.) American consumers have enjoyed seven consecutive months of fewer robocalls as compared to last year.
YouMail’s Robocall Index confirms that Americans received early 200,000,000 fewer robocalls in July, 2024 than in July, 2023. This marks the seventh consecutive monthly drop and means Americans have now received roughly 2 billion fewer robocalls in 2023 than in 2024.
Despite this great work more work remains to be done says R.E.A.C.H. president Eric J. Troutman:
“We knew when we gathered good companies together and challenged everyone to look for a solution to the robocall epidemic we could come up with answers.” Troutman says of the ongoing drop in robocalls nationwide. “When companies agrees to treat consumers right it is an amazing thing. Still, there is a lot more work to be done.”
Troutman explained good companies can help the cause by agreeing to the R.E.A.C.H. standards assuring limited outreach and zero robocalls before a first contact with a consumer. Plus the standards call for clear and transparent disclosures and never sharing information without consumer consent.
“R.E.A.C.H. member companies hold themselves to the highest standards of consumer treatment and they enjoy loyal customer bases as a result.” Troutman says. “Treating consumers right is the best way to build a brand and avoiding unwanted contact only helps assure consumers are likely to stick with you year after year.”
R.E.A.C.H. is set to publish its latest standards (Version 2..0) in August, 2024 after working with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on a new set of rules to govern digital advertisers, lead generation companies and direct-to-consumer marketers.
