Did anyone else note at 5:30 in the 3rd quarter when the Stanford snap went high and Stanford missed the field goal the Troutman Amin lion logo was displayed prominently right before the TURNING POINT of the game?
The Lion flashes and Stanford breaks down…
At that time it was 21-7 and had Stanford made the field goal it would have been a 3 score game.
Instead Cal took over, took momentum, and went on to take the game (and keep the axe.)
Maybe it was a coincidence.
But it wasn’t.
Everything Troutman Amin, LLP touches turns to gold.
I expect Cal will be a playoff contender next year.
Mendoza for Heisman campaign and all.
And the truth is, Cal Memorial Stadium and the viewers at home haven’t even seen the full power of the Troutman Amin, LLP brand.
What its all about
Our lion only appeared on the LED screens–although, as noted, it had its effect.
But the lion was supposed to be prominently painted on the field on both 25 yard lines. Right above the dark Troutman Amin, LLP logo fans saw.
The universe deemed that the world wasn’t quite ready for the full gold lion. The atmospheric river prevented the use of the critical gold paint. So we were left with just our name.
But they brought out a tarp during the special in game ceremony.
And YES, our lion is going to be THAT BIG next year.
A lot of folks have asked how much we paid for this.

Seven figures a year.
For four years.
Why?
Because Cal is the greatest public university in the world.
Its fan base and alumni network are amongst the most influential people in the business world.
Cal cheerleaders
The Bay Area is where innovation for this nation comes from. And Cal is one of the top two schools in the entire region.
It is the oldest school in California.
This is team building at Troutman Amin (literally why would you work anywhere else?)
Cal Memorial Stadium is the 5th or 6th best stadium in College sports.
And most importantly. MOST importantly.
Love my people.
Cal is a sleeping giant. Just waiting to be awakened. Just waiting.
And now, with Troutman Amin, LLP as the official law firm of Cal Athletics– with our backing, drive, determination, relentlessness, as part of the new spirit of this team– there is no ceiling.
Yeah, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
We were supposed to have a champagne toast with the Athletic Director after the game.
But as you’d expect we charged the field instead. 😉
Coach Wilcox was kind enough to track us down after the game.
He looked me in the eye, grabbed my hand and said: “YOU GUYS.”
Pause.
“YOU GUYS ARE GOOD LUCK!!!”
Oh the look on my face.
It was a beautiful moment, of course.
But luck ain’t got nothing to do with it.
Its not luck that keeps us working.
Its not luck that pushes us.
Its not luck that keeps us burning.
Its not luck.
Its doing what it takes to be right with the universe. To be grateful. To be generous. To be real. To put in the work. To never cut corners. To never quit.
And most of all, to do it together. Because we are committed to the same objective. And would bleed for it. Give up nights and weekends and holidays for it. And for each other.
That’s what it means to Deserve to Win.
Toughness. Grit. Determination. Intelligence.
Its not just for ball players. Its for lawyers too.
Proud to embody it.
And when Mendoza spoke those emotional words after the game.
I know exactly what he meant.
This dude Deserves to Win.
To be part of something, so special, so different, so critical, that it must never end.
Big Game 2024. Cal 24. Stanford 21.
And so the Golden Bears begin the Troutman Amin, LLP era 1-0 (undefeated) with a come-from-behind fourth quarter win against their hated rival.
