So I’ve been covering the TCPA beat for years now–as you all know– and virtually every morning I wake up to a handful–and sometimes up to a dozen–new TCPA cases to report on.

But for some reason it has been extremely quiet on the TCPA decisional front lately. August, 2022 marks the lowest number of decided cases I have seen since I started TCPAWorld over three years ago.

On the other hand, TCPA filings are spiking. A huge number of cases have been filed in the last 60 days–and the Troutman Firm has been retained to defend ten class actions in the last month (including a bunch we are taking over from “big law” firms)! Good thing I have another new lawyer starting today. 🙂 Fun.

But what I am trying to figure out is why there are so few TCPA opinions recently, even while new cases keep pouring in. The only thing I can think of is that folks are settling more quickly. Or maybe judges are just on summer break. Who knows.

I will say this though–anytime TCPAWorld sees a period of calm there is always a storm coming. So watch out.

In the meantime, I’m really looking forward to contact.io–flying in to Denver late this evening. Will have a whole party bus with me– including the mysterious new DAME of TCPAWorld, who I will be introducing you folks to later today. Looking forward to it.
