TCPAWORLD AFTERDARK: on christmas decorations..

So I know I am old school. About everything really.

But I can’t handle Christmas decorations going up in October. It is not ok. It just is not.

As a traditionalist I believe Christmas decorations go up on Christmas Eve. They stay up for the 12 days of Christmas and come off on January 6. Period.

The entire purpose of Christmas decorations is that it is LITERALLY CHRISTMAS. They go up during those 12 days. They come down. We move on.

I understand retailers began going earlier to instill people with the festive spirit of giving (i.e. spending money.) And that’s fine. But that doesn’t mean private residence should follow suit.

Regardless, even for those who believe Christmas decorations should adorn homes throughout the entire Christmas season –whatever that means– I still see no reason any decorations should ever go up before the 10th of December or so.

I know that most now consider it proper to put up decorations the weekend following Thanksgiving. Still not ok in my view, but I know I am in the minority. Fine.

But we must all agree that a Christmas tree showing up in a major shopping complex BEFORE HALLOWEEN is not acceptable:

The end. Goodnight all.
