TCPAWORLD AFTER DARK: UGH!!!!!

I am getting really tired of other law firms using my name.

Particularly the so-called Troutman Pepper. They just keep embarrassing me.

You all remember the epic e-mail server meltdown they underwent and people were freaking out thinking Troutman Firm (predecessor to Troutman Amin) had suffered some ridiculous e-meltdown:

“ALL NETWORK RESOURCES DOWN”: #BigLaw Layoffs Continue as A DIFFERENT Troutman Law Firm Suffers a Major Email Security Event

Nope. Not us. The other (lesser IMO) Troutman firm.

So embarrassing. So awful.

So…

we finally got past that–very annoying. Not sure why anyone stayed working there after that. Such a disaster.

But now…

Gees, look at this dang headline:

US law firm Troutman sued for discrimination by fired Black lawyer

Like… are you kidding me Reuters???

USE THE FIRM’S FULL NAME!!! DON’T JUST CALL IT TROUTMAN FIRM….

UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH

Now obviously it would be better if that other Troutman firm could stop having meltdowns and lawsuits, or better yet–stop using my name altogether.

(Little known fact: precisely ZERO Troutmans are attorneys there… but they keep using the name anyway.)

But until that happens:

DEAR MEDIA– PLEASE DO NOT SHORTHAND “TROUTMAN PEPPER” AS TROUTMAN FIRM OR THE TROUTMAN FIRM OR US LAW FIRM TROUTMAN OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

It confuses people.

I’m trying to run an elite, top-level, incredibly DIVERSE and well-respected and NOT HACKED law firm here. And I keep suffering diminution to my brand as a result of antics by #biglaw–and also the carelessness of media types.

At least law.com and bloomberg and law360 used the full name of the firm in their articles:

https://www.law.com/nationallawjournal/2024/01/17/troutman-pepper-sued-for-racial-discrimination-by-former-associate/

https://news.bloomberglaw.com/litigation/troutman-pepper-sued-by-black-associate-alleging-bias-reprisal

https://www.law360.com/articles/1786646/troutman-pepper-fired-atty-for-flagging-race-bias-suit-says

TO BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR– THIS WAS NOT TROUTMAN AMIN, LLP.

Very sorry to anyone who was confused or concerned.

And I know it still somehow damages us just to have the same name as that other firm.

I get it. I understand.

Maybe I’ll sue TP for damaging my brand. Not sure yet. But for now– NOT TROUTMAN AMIN, LLP.

We’re too busy quietly solving the robocall crisis to be causing trouble. (Notice how the media DOESN’T cover that???)

Thank you. And goodnight.

But seriously… get it together out there. UGH UGH UGH.
