TCPWORLD AFTERDARK: Lord Troutman (II)

So the merger of Troutman Pepper and Locke Lord is official and I have some thoughts:

  1. What kind of pathetic law firm let’s another law firm have both of its names go before the first name in a merger. Troutman Pepper Locke? Seriously Locke Lord? Ya’ll went out like punks. We know who is in charge of this new firm–the Troutman boys.
  2. No surprise the firm kept “Troutman” as the front name though–continuing to borrow off of my success. Undoubtedly Troutman is the most powerful surname in the legal world right now.
  3. Even though the firm keeps using (leading with) my name there are ZERO Troutmans at Troutman Pepper AND ZERO Troutmans at Locke Lord. So the new Troutman Pepper Locke will NOT have any Troutmans. And as before DO NOT BE CONFUSED ERIC J TROUTMAN DOES NOT WORK AT THIS FIRM! (He can be found at Troutman Amin, LLP– #lookforthelion, and all that)
  4. Big missed opportunity though. “Troutman Lord” or “Lord Troutman” would have been absolutely perfect. Can’t believe they missed out on that opportunity. No vision whatsoever. These biglaw thinkers…
  5. Speaking of which, ever wonder why these firms merged? What’s the benefit one wonders? Obviously its just so that partners at each firm can try to profit off of selling one another to their clients. Real used care salesman gimmicks. “Hey bob you just got sued? Boy oh boy do I have the right lawyer for you. My partner (who I just met) has handled cases like that before (twice, 15 years ago). You should hire him! (They don’t say the part in parenthesis.)
  6. Cracks me up when I see lawyers moving their practice from one big law firm to another. Imagning–as I once did–that things will somehow magically be different at the new place. Good luck. 🙂
  7. Oh and did you hear about Troutman Pepper getting hit with a $54 million MALPRACTICE lawsuit THE SAME DAY they merged with Locke Lord? I mean come on. Most unlucky law firm on Earth– remember that time their partner was on a panel about Infosec and then the NEXT DAY the firm’s servers were shut down by an cyber attack? Not a coincidence. Universe is punishing the firm for using my name without permission (I assume.)
  8. Locke Lord partners– welcome to paradise:

  1. Lord-Czar-Almighty Troutman really needs to go back to elementary school to learn spelling and grammar. “Used CARE salesman”? “Imagning?”. “Shut down by AN cyber attack?”. I know what I will be sending the Czar for Christmas… a dictionary! Maybe that is why Big Law firms are so expensive; the overhead of hiring a proof reader to catch and correct all of their spelling mistakes.
