It is not an overstatement to suggest when Donald Trump takes office next year he will become the most powerful man in the history of the world.
I’m quite serious.
With an army of partisans ready to appease him in the Congress and courts, and with a demonstrated record of being able to sway the populace (or at least enough of the populace at the right time) to win elections, there will be very little to prevent him from enacting every element of his agenda.
Plus, he’s had a head start and the opportunity to learn from his mistakes while in office the first time.
Yes, I suspect history is about to witness something entirely new. A president with near absolute power over every nook and cranny of this nation’s regulatory environment–and a firm commitment to exercise as much control as he can muster. And much like AI there is much promise here, and also much for potential for disaster.
To say, therefore, that Trump’s win will have a massive impact on TCPAWorld is putting it mildly. In theory, everything is on the table now.
But what will the most likely immediate impacts be? What is the timing on FCC changes? How are the courts most likely to respond? And–importantly–what is the fate of the new one-to-one ruling?
Putting a finer point on it, will TCPA issues be a priority for this administration? And if so, will there be a commitment to tort reform or an expansion of efforts to crush the nuisance of robocalls at the expense of small business?
Its a fascinating time to be alive (then again, it always is.) And an especially interesting time here in TCPAWorld!
So you will not want to miss what will likely be the MOST CRITICAL WEBINAR OF THE YEAR when Michael Ferree and I dive into these issues next Thursday November 14, 2024.
Registration information here.
The webinar is free although, per usual, I think capacity is somewhat limited so I encourage you to sign up NOW and show up ON TIME to avoid being locked out (love you, but seriously these things do happen.)
Come prepared with questions and we’ll do what we can to answer them as well!
Also Queenie and I will be speaking (main stage) at ANA Masters of Advertising Law NEXT WEEK. If you will be there be sure to reach out. I think you can expect us to discuss these issues as well. 😉
