FCC DISMISSES 11 TCPA-related PETITIONS– R.E.A.C.H. Petition on Carrier Call Blocking Still Out For Review

The Federal Communications Commissions just dismissed several outstanding petitions–including some from industry advocates aimed at limiting the TCPA.

Critically, however, the petitition of Responsible Enterprises Against Consumer Harassment (R.E.A.C.H.) to limit or ban carrier call blocking and mislabeling remains on docket.

The petitions dismissed are as follows.

Some of the more interesting items:

  1. The 2012 PACE petition sought to have the FCC reconsider its ATDS expansion, which was later struck down by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and ameliorated by the Supreme Court in Facebook; and
  2. The 2020 NCLC petition that sought to expand SMS rules on P2P and A2P messaging– rules largely overshadowed by the SCOTUS ruling in Facebook.

Again, the R.E.A.C.H. petition challenging carrier behavior is not on the list and we hope it will be put out for comment very soon.

In the meantime the deadline for comments on the FCC’s foreign call center NPRM remains May 26, 2026. R.E.A.C.H. is actively working on its comments to that NPRM.
